Getting Down To Bidness

Everyone's been hearing about Wu-Tang being the first Hip-Hop act to clear a Beatles sample. It's been the topic of conversation, sparking the ever-present argument, "Does Micheal Jackson still own their shit?" After doing some research, it seems as though Mike sold about 250 songs to Sony in 1995; a quick flip resulting in a $95 million profit and placing Jackson in a position to make over $500 million by joining with Sony to use the catalog (which includes music by Elvis and Little Richard) to create a whole new monster of artist-rape.

The song you hear below is "The Heart Gently Weeps" featuring Erykah Badu, Dhani Harrison, and John Frusciante. In my honest opinion, they did this track the utmost justice. This is classic Wu-Tang, through and through.

And as much as I've been using the term "sample", according to Pitchfork this is actually an "interpolation", or simply just a loop. That's technical, though, and we at It's A Lifestyle are only trying to give you the music.

Enjoy, shout out to loud.com for the stream, and watch out for 8 Diagrams. This is shaping up to be quite the LP.
